John G. Hofmann was born on July 11, 1971 in Syosset, New York and grew up in Fairfax, Virginia . He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1993, earning a B.A. in Psychology (with High Distinction). After university, Mr. Hofmann taught English in Fukui, Japan for three years. He then lived in Sydney, Australia for one and a half years, where he worked in the hospitality industry.
Mr. Hofmann attended the Boston University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts where he earned his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, in 2002. During law school, Mr. Hofmann was a staff member of the American Journal of Law & Medicine and a member of the school's Constitutional Law Moot Court Team, which won Best Brief at the 2002 Craven Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition. After graduation, Mr. Hofmann served as a judicial law clerk for the Late Honorable John H. Mason of the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Mr. Hofmann was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in December, 2002.
Mr. Hofmann joined Gilman, McLaughlin & Hanrahan LLP in August 2005. Mr. Hofmann concentrates his practice in commercial and real estate litigation. He also has litigation experience in construction, employment, and zoning law, landlord-tenant matters, and disputes among shareholders. He currently resides in Newton, Massachusetts .
