International mega-firms: From their high-rise offices, these firms will promise to put five attorneys on your case, then bill you hundreds of dollars per hour for the services of second-year lawyers, who will also be your main points of contact with the firm.
Solo practitioners and small firms: These firms may be able to close your house purchase, draft a simple will, and in some cases handle some civil and criminal court work, but their experience and resources are generally very limited.
Boutique law firms: These firms specialize in one thing only. They may do that one thing quite well, but they do not offer the range of services that most clients need, and because of their extreme specialization, they cannot build lasting client relationships.
