ROBERT E. MCLAUGHLIN JR.: Family law cases include divorce cases, includes modification cases, child custody cases, separate support cases, any type of a case that arises out of a dispute in the family relationship.
The qualities that make a successful divorce attorney are experience, someone who's practical. What I mean by that is who has good, practical solutions to the complexities of the modern life. You have to understand valuation issues because that's always a component of divorce. And you have to understand the emotional impact and the effect on the kids as well.
Our firm always looks at a divorce case and try to identify what's best for the client. There are times when they have to be litigated. And we're prepared to do that. But oftentimes, it's a very, very difficult process for both parties involved, particularly the children that are involved. And perhaps the best resolution is to sit down across the table from each other and try to find a solution that makes sense for the whole family.
My goal with each client is to have a successful outcome. And that can mean different things to different people, but ultimately for a client to walk away feeling that they were zealously represented, that their needs were understood and well represented, and to get a resolution that they're happy with.
